Come to the dark side, we have water!

Water. No other fluid in the world has as much value or a more essential role than water. We use it to do practically everything and its beneficial effects have been proven beyond a doubt. But what if water as we know it changed its composition? What if it became black?

Why black?

Black water exists today and its colour has nothing to do with food colorants. Indeed, black water is still pure water to which Fulvic Minerals have been added. Fulvic minerals are constituted by plants and Fulvic and Humic acids, which are black. They help water to penetrate the cells and provide thus a better hydration of the body. Moreover, they also support healthy brain function and may help protect against cognitive impairment.

A second element present in black water is electrolyte, an ion that is electrically-charged. Electrolytes are concentrated in our blood and get eliminated when we sweat. Maintain the concentration of electrolytes in our body contribute, among other things, to minimize muscle cramps.

The last element we find in black water is alkaline pH. It is the opposite of acidic and helps to balance the pH of our body, which is often more acidic due to our diet (meat, fruit juice, milk and many snacks have an acidic pH).

Would you go black?

While the long-term benefits of black water are not yet established, its ingredients have already been approved by the dietetic world long before black water even existed. Getting healthier just by drinking water surely sounds interesting but would you be ready to try this new black gold? Comment below!

Turn your words into action!

Tired of typing out your notes after class as a motivated MTB-student, here’s the perfect solution to your problem. If you work with the Livescribe 3 Smartpen, your notes automatically appear on your smartphone or tablet, and is converted into digital text.
Your notes are now organized, labeled and easy to find on your device.
That way, it becomes much easier to send them to your friends or colleagues.

Clever pen

In addition, you’re able to record audio material, in case you’ve missed something important. There are already some digital pens that transform notes into digital text, and some audio-recorders, but this Smartpen combines those two functions into one clever instrument. Its streamlined design holds thus a great amount of technology. An infrared camera, ARM processor, flash memory and a lithium ion battery all work together to bring your notes to life on your tablet or smartphone.

The Livescribe 3 Smartpen works with dot paper to capture everything you write down. This kind of paper is available at competitive prices in a wide variety of sizes and styles, so that you can choose the one that’s best for you.

Mobile Application

Livescribe created therefore an adjoining service, namely the Livescribe+ mobile app.
With this application you can afterwards take a look at your hand-written notes.
The Livescribe 3 Smartpen is able to contain 2GB in notes, that’s about 20.000 pages.
Watch your digital world expand and your notes become more useful when everything you write down directly is synced to Livescribe+.

Bluetooth

By the Bluetooth Smart wireless technology your Smartpen quickly pairs to your tablet or smartphone. No Wi-Fi codes or USB cables are required to connect and sync. This also extends the battery life, giving you over 14 hours of continuous writing.

Is this Smartpen a good idea for our MTB-community? Please share your thoughts and comments below!

Wear your passwords and your keys… On your wrist!

There is a growing pressure to memorize increasingly complex secure passwords for a huge number of services, so some people are thinking along the ways about devices that can remember these complex passwords for them. The Everykey wristband is one of the devices that aim to remove the stress of forgetting your keys or passwords. The Everykey wants to take the place of your physical and digital keys, wrapping them all up in one small digital wristband.

How does it work?

The Everykey wristband uses Bluetooth technology to unlock smartphones, computers and websites. Basically, you strap the Everykey onto your wrist, go within a range of any password-protected device and you just let your wristband automatically unlock the device for you. The wristband doesn’t store any passwords itself, it functions purely via Bluetooth by sending encrypted signals. You can immediately sign into websites or unlock anything digital without having to touch a keyboard. A nice extra for the fashionistas among us: the wristband comes in a variety of colors.

What about the security?

The gadget causes debate because of some concerns about its security. Everykey is going for a ‘low price’ of 100 dollars, what might be the reason why they didn’t provide security on the device. Is it really clever to put passwords and keys in an easily stealable form?  What if your Everykey wristband would fall into the wrong hands?  You can disable your Everykey at any time just like a credit card by calling us or deactivating it through our website” says Christopher Wentz, CEO of Everykeys.

You can learn more about how it functions by checking out this video below.

Picking out the rotten apples

Many people enjoy an occasional piece of fruit during a healthy break. However, biting a rotten apple or pear can put a damper on a well-deserved time-out. The young designer Jagjit Chodha has come up with a revolutionary fruit bowl that can put a stop to being confronted with rotten fruit in your fruit bowl. The bowl was designed for the Made in Brunel show, an event that is a platform for innovative work of students.

A warning light
The fruit bowl designed by Jagjit Chodha is equipped with a sensor that detects ethylene, a chemical that causes the ripening process of fruit. There is a series of LED’s that light up as the sensor in the fruit bowl detects ethylene. The more ethylene, the more LED's light up. So, the LED’s tell you how far the fruit is still away from being rotten. This system allows you to eat your fruit before it gets moldy and you have to throw it away.

Limiting food waste
People throw away a lot of food each year. It’s a fact we sometimes hear in the news and we have to do something about this irresponsible waste. The revolutionary fruit bowl can be part of limiting the huge amount of food we dispose of every year because the normal action when you see a moldy piece of fruit in your fruit bowl, is to throw it in the bin. This fruit bowl lets you know in time that your fruit is about to be unsuitable for consumption, so you can eat it before it gets rotten and you have to throw it away.

What do you think? Is this a useful fruit bowl or do you think it’s just a silly idea? And could it make people think about their food consumption and the waste of food? Please comment!
